Security Council confronts regime change war
United Nations Security Council met on Tuesday, December 23rd, 2025 to address situation of piracy and boat shooting: performed by United States in offense to Venezuela and rest of Caribbean Sea. Several countries however took this opportunity to embrace a regime change agenda, which is unsupported by United Nations charter. Several countries addressed need of strict followance of international law and respect for Venezuelan sovereignty. No vote was held and United States showed some success in coercing other countries to follow warmongering. International law is increasingly disregarded by a number of countries: claiming that terrorists should not be protected as an excuse to impose further death and sanctions and looting against Venezuelan resources.
Two days ago, foreign minister of Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation with Yván Gil, Foreign Minister of Republic of Venezuela. Sergey Lavrov commented that United States aggressions will not be tolerated: contrasting with a prior Secretary of State Marco Rubio comment that Venezuelan petroleum sales will not be tolerated either. We have two nuclear powers claiming that opposite side is intolerable, which is quite concerning because pursuit of peace does not seem a widely desired outcome: as it previously was when United Nations were founded. It is stressful to find out that in 1945 desire for peace was overwhelming. While in 2025 desire for war and regime change gains ground.
United States seems determined to impose Venezuelan commerce of petroleum with United States: at unfavorable terms for Venezuela. Besides, Venezuela has already signed long-term investment agreements with Russian and Chinese companies: for thorough development of Venezuelan petroleum industry, which will increasingly feature refining facilities. While regional allies of Venezuela continue being led by Alba Association of Caribbean and Latin American countries, which have historically been neglected by largest Caribbean neighbors such as Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago.
Two days ago foreign minister of People's Republic of China shared a video expressing his full support: for Venezuela's continued ability to engage into international maritime commerce, with any country it sees fit. China is Venezuela's most significant investor and client. Most Venezuelan petroleum is sold to China and paid for in cryptocurrencies or yuan. Yuan, however, has not yet become a currency to be used for medium of exchange, unit of account, or store of value in Venezuelan main economy. Downstream processes of economic relevance for yuan petroleum deals remain to be seen.
President Nicolás Maduro has written an extensive letter detailing how one hundred and four people have already been shot dead: by United States military aggression towards boats on Caribbean. A number of international treaties have been violated, while United States seeks excuses to impose regime change and to take control of Venezuela, in spite of our sovereignty, as they would like Venezuela to become some sort of a colonial factory: to which they can extract petroleum, gold and gas for free. Venezuela has frequently advertised that we will not let that happen. We will exert our right of self-defense and protection of our national sovereignty, as guaranteed by United Nations Charter.
Assistant Secretary General for Middle East, Asia and Pacific of United Nations was also present at United Nations Security Council debate on Venezuela. He summarized well known details and historical facts regarding United States activities: that have increasingly made the Caribbean Sea a less secure place. Russia commented that United States should not behave like a cowboy. Russia was surprised as United States has behaved in a responsible, mature fashion in other conflicts worldwide. However, during this Venezuela situation, United States becomes full of ire, irrational and pretends to destroy dialogue and civilian values.
China took its turn to remind that violation of sovereignty of Venezuela is non-negotiable under any pretext. Maritime law must be followed. Both Russia and China are increasingly investing in Venezuela's military industry, in addition to petroleum industry. While it is likely that ship tankers for petroleum leaving Venezuela might increasingly be defended, by sailing with crew containing Chinese, Russian, Iranian or Houthi soldiers. Many warnings are being provided to United States that right of defense of Venezuela will be eventually exerted. United States continues a mixture of regime change aspirations for Venezuela: with pretext of counter drug trafficking, with added economic benefit of looting and stealing Venezuela's property.
Most European countries vassals of United States support position of United States to initiate war. Most Asian and African countries are respectful of United Nations charter of international law. They promote peace in Caribbean and deescalation. While Latin America and Caribbean are deeply divided: with some countries defending peace and right of free navigation and commerce, while other countries in Latin America and Caribbean would prefer a regime change in Venezuela: that would impose democracy through war. Every passing day, war and democracy become synonym terms.
Guyana in particular took opportunity of this regime change agenda from United States to complain about a perceived aggression from Venezuela into Guyana: to recover Essequibo militarily, while Essequibo was not object of United Nations Security Council meeting. It is widely believed that Guyana sought this non-permanent seat at United Nations Security Council to constantly promote their particular vision on the Essequibo border dispute with Venezuela. Venezuela is concentrated on deterring United States invasion. Venezuela is not planning to invade Guyana, while we continue advocating for dialogue between Guyana and Venezuela to conclusively solve a dispute. However, Guyana prefers not to dialogue. They would rather have United States initiate a war against Venezuela for regime change.
United Kingdom position was also noticed by Caribbean countries: which instead of cherishing a zone of peace, they would prefer to concentrate on propaganda about regime change for Venezuela: with a narrative that war is necessary and desirable, by falsely claiming that most Venezuelans voted for regime change war. This is inaccurate as Venezuela is a peaceful country of people who historically have defended our sovereignty.
Venezuelan ambassador delivered a speech countering United States argument on counter drug trafficking: as United Nations drug world report of 2025 does not mention explicitly Venezuela as a significant, let alone as most influential drug trafficker in western hemisphere. Such statement is false. Such statement was claimed by United States representative at United Nations Security Council. Venezuelan diplomat at United Nations, Samuel Moncada, pointed out that counter drug trafficking in any case has no relationship with petroleum trade: as this meeting was originally summoned for denouncing violations to maritime law, and obstruction to free commerce as United States seeks to make Venezuelans starve, depriving us from our commerce. This situation of United States exerting pressure, so that Venezuelans starve with no means of exporting their produce, will oblige Venezuela to initiate genocide accusations against United States.
International law was designed to ensure and promote peace. However, United States and countries that are too scared to defy United States are in favor of war. They use Venezuela for an experiment on regime change. Narrative is being pushed: that a war for regime change in Venezuela, and securing United States access to Venezuelan sovereign resources, would be desirable for world peace. Intransigence and intolerance of United States are absolutely crystal clear. United States will not engage in dialogue. Venezuela will not abide by narrative that peace, democracy and regime change are interchangeable: because that would mean death of the international law system as we have known it during decades.
Prospects of war are increasing. United States is not being persuaded or forced to restrain deescalation. Requests from international community of Africa, Asia and some countries of Latin America are not being sufficient. United States, Europe, and some Latin American countries are too dependent on military industrial complex, that requires to fabricate wars for improvement of their own economies.
It should also be noted that as Russian forces advanced into Kiev, Ukraine with reports of Russian flags already being flown in Kiev, capital of Ukraine, United States might find it desirable for its geopolitical games to use Venezuela as a proxy for showing military muscle to China and Russia. Iran however through its foreign minister has declared that United States actions are illegal and warmongering. Iran will seek defense of Venezuela, along with China and Russia. Caracas might well be a headquarters of a special China, Russia, Iran military alliance that could extend not only for this Caribbean war developing between United States and Venezuela: but also in preview of World War III, as other hotspots such as Taiwan or Israel become new pawns for enhancing United States expansionism.
We are slowly noticing how alliances of Venezuela are taking shape, while alliances of United States are also being reaffirmed. United States is determined to promote and engage in war: while Venezuela is determined to engage into peace. Venezuela wishes merry Christmas to rest of the world. Venezuela does not want to be involved in a regime change war. Venezuela wishes to continue exporting its petroleum. Venezuela will not tolerate United States aggression to our territory or our naval assets. Venezuela will continue using all available diplomatic means to avert war. Venezuela has been successful in ensuring safety of civilian air traffic on Venezuelan airspace. While Venezuela denounces that Piarco airport in Port of Spain, and Curaçao and Aruba airports in Netherlands Antilles have become unsafe: due to United States abuse of electromagnetic war.
While many fishermen who were killed are not from Venezuela, but rather from Trinidad & Tobago or Colombia, Latin American and Caribbean unity seems further away than ever. It seems that a northern South America and Caribbean block accompanied by Mexico considers peace a more urgent issue than warmongering countries located mostly in southern South America and areas of Central America. Well-defined borders of these two significantly opposed blocks might be defined by regional war: as it looks increasingly likely that United States will soon attack. United States is determined to kill diplomacy on assumption that United States is militarily stronger than rest of the world combined. It will be task of Venezuela, China, Russia, and Iran to demonstrate to international community: that our cohesive union will enable us to fight back and win a war that we did not want to initiate.
